In the autumn of 1987, one boring evening, we were reading the newspaper. There was an advertisement that read: "Persian for sale". One year earlier we had decided not to have cats again, but at this point we really missed all the energy and fun around the house that our earlier cats had brought us. We picked up a blank sheet of paper. Made a line in the middle and wrote advantages on the left side and disadvantages on the right side. Advantages and Disadvantages, the two were standing in front of each other when we asked ourselves the question: - Shall we buy a cat, go to shows and maybe breed cats? By now most people can guess what we decided. Reidun is working full time with the cats while Thore supports the whole "family" working as a Janitor.

The cats

We started out with solid coloured Persians (Black, Blue, Red, Cream, Tortieshell and Bluecreams).
In 2000 we bought breeders with the colours Brown Tabby and Black & White Bi Colour. Today we show and breed Solid, Tabby, Bi Colour, Calicos and Smoke. Maybe the future will bring us Silver Tabby too.

The cats are allowed to have their own personality and most of them roam freely in our home. But anyone with experience of fertile male cats knows that our home would not be liveable if the males were allowed to run free. They have the space they need in their own rooms. The rest of the gang have freedom under control, we decide what's allowed and not. They are treated like all other family members.

The cattery

This is a FIFe registered cattery. We're members of the Norwegian FIFe organisation called NRR. Some of our breeders have Exotic in their pedigree but the main part of our litters has pure Persian pedigrees.
Our breeding goals are based on the FIFe standard as it's written for the breed. Sweet open expression and at the same time we try to breed for strength and masculinity as well, with the advantages and disadvantages that causes. Maybe some of our females don't have that super sweet innocent look and feminine features but they have healthy eyes and noses. The nostrils are wide and open because of their broad faces. Heavily boned cats that are large in size are also goals in our breeding that we think we have had some success with obtaining. Over the years we have invested in cats that are "late bloomers", that means we don't have that many "Kitten Stars" at the shows, but our cats are doing very well at shows as adults and they keep on doing well for many years of their life.
With this in mind you can imagine how glad and surprised we were this autumn of 2004 when we got our first FIFe "Junior Winner" in our black female (N) Li Tai Pu's Arianna Salvi!

Showing is exciting and a lot of fun but first and foremost all cats should be regarded as beloved family members and pets. They have to be able to fit in with a family so of course temperament also means a lot to us in our breeding. The kittens early on have to get used to living with both humans and other cats. Naturally they are used to bathing, grooming and all sorts of handling from an early age.

If you are interested in a Persian cat from our cattery, don't hesitate to contact us. Maybe you are interested in giving showing a try? We see it as an important task to help new cat fanciers to get started if they buy a cat with show potential from us. We'll be glad to answer your questions.

Regards / Reidun & Thore
